The Catholic Church is a field hospital with doctors who help to heal spiritually those who recognize that they are sick and accept the cure offered, many of whom ask for closeness, proximity and compassion, realities that cannot be offered simply by promoting pastoral activities. For this reason, we highlight the work of the spiritual doctor as a key element for a Church on the way out; we describe its main characteristics based on the work of St. John Climacus. His contributions are of great relevance because they are based on living the virtues in order to offer personalized care.
